Welcome to Jukerox Music Academy - our online music school.

In 2012, we started a band called Jukerox. Playing weddings, parties and events across the UK, we noticed that we were often approached and asked whether we teach. So, we decided to launch Jukerox Music Academy, an online music school, offering weekly 1-2-1 lessons Monday - Friday via Google Meet or Zoom.

Teaching online music lessons has enabled us to reach out to an array of students, from all over the UK and beyond, opening up new horizons and opportunities for many. We believe a fun, inspiring education is the first step in achieving your goals and by encouraging our students to work together, we help build authentic friendships through music.

Start your journey with us and book your online music lesson today!

When did you first start playing the piano?

I first sat in front of a piano when I was 6 years old, so I’ve been playing the piano for 20 years now!

What made you want to start teaching?

I want to share my passion for the piano with those excited to learn and help my students to reach their music goals.

What have you achieved through playing music?

Playing the piano has introduced me to the world of composing - I’ve written music for TV shows, adverts, documentaries and other artists. I've also played live at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The York Barbican and The O2 Arena.

What is your advice to somebody wanting to learn the piano?

If you love music, you'll love playing the piano. Get stuck in and learn as much as you can - it will be fun! When I first started playing, I didn't realise how much I would enjoy it or how it would influence all aspects of my life. I hope you'll have a similar experience in our lessons!

When did you first start playing the bass?

I first started playing bass in school where I dreamed of being the cool kid and join a rock band. I was around 14/15, so just over 10 years now!

What made you want to start teaching?

From personal experience, learning a musical instrument helps improve your life in so many ways! I want to enable as many people as possible to experience that and find their passion for playing the bass and making music.

What have you achieved through playing music?

Playing the bass has allowed me to travel the country and parts of the world as well as unlock a love for different parts of the music industry - writing/composing, theatre, musical directing, recording. As a result, I have multiple projects for which I write and arrange music for, and find myself in the orchestra pit of many different theatres across the country playing for many different musical productions.

What is your advice to somebody wanting to learn the bass?

Just do it! The bass guitar is the foundation of so much music (harmony and rhythm) and can be one of the most powerful instruments, if used correctly - the possibilities on the bass guitar are endless! Find your favourite song, pick up your bass, jam along.

When did you first start playing an instrument?

Well I've been singing since the age of 5 so I would say vocals is my first instrument, if that counts! However, I first picked up the guitar when I was 8.

What made you want to start teaching?

My parents are both teachers so I think they inspired me to carry on the family tradition! I've been doing it for a long time now and it's really rewarding. I still get a sense of pride every time a student learns something new.

What have you achieved through playing music?

I've toured the UK with my band, performing my own songs. Combined my passion for games and music, composing soundtracks for video games. Most recently I've started a Twitch channel where I'm building an audience and community that I'm very proud of.

What is your advice to somebody wanting to learn the guitar or vocals?

I've always been an anxious person, unless I'm performing. Music can give you so much more than just the ability to play. It can change your outlook on life and help you overcome many challenges. So don't hesitate to jump in and see what music can do for you.

When did you first start playing the drums?

I saw my dad’s band playing when I was young and knew then and there I had to take drum lessons! Unfortunately, I had to wait until secondary school before taking my first lesson - I wish I could have started sooner!

What made you want to start teaching?

I honestly don't think there is anything more rewarding than teaching someone something new. The joy of spreading the enthusiasm I have for the instrument is what I live for.

What have you achieved through playing music?

Drums has been a massive part of my life, it introduced me to new friends at school and some amazing musicians. Through touring with artists, such as Nakhane, I  have played live on the Jools Holland Show and met legends such as Nile Rodgers. I've also toured the world and performed in countries such as Brazil, South Africa, Australia, Norway and the USA.

What is your advice to somebody wanting to learn the drums?

Don't let anything stand in your way. If you feel inspired to pick up the sticks, just do it! A lot of the time as a musician you will hit difficulties along the way but the journey is the greatest part, enjoy it! Your hard work will always pay off in the end.

I thought I was too old to start learning an instrument, but on my 50th birthday, my wife bought me some guitar lessons with Josh and I’m still taking lessons 3 years later. Josh is very kind and knowledgeable.
